A girl from Srinagar packs her baggage Youth Achievement Award for the Nation

Jammu, 13 May: A young lady from Kashmir has been presented with the National Youth Excellence Award.

Participants from over 16 states in the National Youth Exchange programme gathered at the PG College for Women in Gandhi Nagar Jammu for a celebration.

Following the ceremony, 25 distinguished individuals were honoured for their participation.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, handed out the prizes.

Afreen Barkat was honoured for her philanthropic work. Her efforts to serve the less fortunate on her own time were commended.

Afreen Barkat, a native of Alamgari Bazar in Srinagar, now splits his time between many NGOs. At Sri Pratap College, she participates in the “Extension Activities Committee.” Member of the Kashmir Society and the Scouts and Guides of Jammu and Kashmir.

And she’s a Sri Pratap College graduate student working for a master’s degree in botany.

At the nonprofit organisation “Live for Others being helpful foundation,” she now serves as the organization’s General Secretary.

Her areas of expertise include Menstrual Hygiene, Environmental Protection, and Social Service. [KNT]
