Participants: 20 students from Kashmir Valley School, affiliated with Biscoe and Mallinson SchoolEvent: Workshop on Astrophysics under Aghaaz Labs

A group of 20 enthusiastic students from Kashmir Valley School, a branch of Biscoe and Mallinson School, participated in an enriching workshop on Astrophysics held at Boys Higher Secondary School, Humhama. Organized by Aghaaz Labs, the workshop aimed to provide hands-on experience with telescope and offer practical insights into celestial phenomena. Worth to mention, Samagra Shiksha, J&K, in collaboration with IIT Kanpur has established a total of 376 Aghaaz Labs, across Jammu and Kashmir. This event, presided over by representatives from both government and private school systems, showcased a collaborative learning experience facilitated by Aghaaz Initiatives. It highlighted their unique efforts through the ‘Community Outreach Program’ and the ‘School as Nodal Center for Aghaaz’ initiative, bringing these educational sectors together on a single platform.

The workshop commenced with an introduction to the fundamentals of astrophysics, led by Mr. Sheikh Zahid Lateef, the mentor from Aaghaz Labs and was accompanied by the Nodal teacher Mr. Binu Ji Bhat . Students were given the opportunity to learn about the structure of stars, galaxies, and the solar system. The session also included a detailed explanation of sun spots and other celestial phenomena using Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) models.
