Cab driver perishes in the Kupwara tragedy

Two people were critically injured late Monday night on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway in the Mehar district of Ramban when a speeding car collided with a motorbike travelling in the other direction.

The primary rider and pillion of a motorbike with the registration number JK19-5092 were critically injured when a car with the registration number JK06-4574 slammed into them while driving recklessly and irresponsibly on the highway near Mehar. Both were sent to Ramban District Hospital immediately.

The TaTa Sumo’s driver, who caused the collision, has already left the scene. The two were identified by police as Budhi Singh, 48, son of Dhram Singh and a resident of Tehsil, Neera, and Budhi Singh, 50, son of Dhanater Singh and a resident of Tehsil, Neera. Case FIR 188 of 2023 was filed at Ramban Police Station under the Indian Penal Code sections 279 and 337.
