25 June, Srinagar: On Sunday, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh launched a scathing attack against former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, claiming that under their rule, the J&K economy was derailed and there was no progress and development.

Chugh said that the Gandhis, the Muftis, and the Abdullahs had all looted Jammu and Kashmir while in power.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi entered office and got the law and order situation under control, things began to turn around rapidly in J&K. He said that a new era had begun at J&K.

Chugh made these remarks in the wake of a news conference held by Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti on June 23 after a meeting of opposition parties in Patna.

Chugh criticised the three households, claiming that on the one hand they promote democracy while on the other they promote China and Pakistan.

People in Jammu and Kashmir were repressed and progress was stymied under their rule. There was no harmony or forward movement. But under PM Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has become a major tourist destination, when before there was just violence. “Peace, development, and progress have been the only outcomes of BJP rule in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

He further said that MPs from Jammu and Kashmir were holding news conferences in neighbouring Bihar because of a lack of facilities in their own state. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have clearly rejected them, as seen by this. They don’t feel comfortable enough to open up about anything here,” he remarked.

According to Chugh, a new era of growth and progress in Jammu and Kashmir is emerging thanks to the pro-people policies of PM Modi, but during the control of the three families, only terrorism thrived.
