On Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha issued a plea to improve administration by focusing on the needs of ordinary citizens.

In a statement issued here, an official spokesman said the LG had urged the DCs to monitor and improve department performance and enhance collaboration among different stakeholders for better citizen-centric governance while interacting with citizens during the ‘LG’s Mulaqaat- Live Public Grievance Hearing’ at the civil secretariat.

He responded to the complaints posted on JKIGRAMS and issued orders to the top officials and DCs to guarantee timely provision of essential public services including healthcare, education, and social assistance.

The administrative apparatus of J&K has been improved to better serve the people. Sinha said that the large volume of complaints filed via JKIGRAMS and the high rate of resolution demonstrated a responsive government.

He ordered that complaints be resolved quickly, that decisions be made without favouritism, and that a model of competitive local government be established.

The LG recommended that the districts use multi-level methods to addressing complaints and providing public services.

He stressed the need of using technology solutions to resolve complaints in a timely manner while maintaining high standards.

According to Sinha, “the benefits of welfare measures will seamlessly reach the last man in the queue thanks to e-Governance and rapid technological advancement, which has helped with new and innovative grievance redressal mechanisms and service delivery monitoring tools.”

He reaffirmed the J&K government’s commitment to civilian empowerment and making the administrative structure more transparent and attuned to community concerns.

That “active participation of all sections of society in socio-economic development and commitment towards the people’s well-being is top priority of the administration,” the LG said.

After hearing the family’s complaint that they were denied aid after the death of Neelam Rani, a labour cardholder from Kathua, he ordered the relevant authority to find a solution as soon as possible.

Sinha ordered the DC to take strict steps in accordance with the law after receiving a report of unlawful mining in nallah Romshi, Karimabad, Pulwama.

Addressing the problem of encroachment on school property in Mendhar, he issued clear directives to the relevant DC to that effect.

Rehana Batul, Commissioner Secretary for Public Grievances, presided over the LG’s Mulaqaat.

Both R K Goyal, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, and Arun Kumar Mehta, the Chief Secretary, were present for the discussion.
