Director General of Police for J&K, Dilbag Singh, opened the 3-day “Jashn-e-Dal 2023” Water Sports Festival today at a ceremony on the SKICC Back Lawn.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police are putting on the event as part of their Civic Action Programme.

The Director General of Police, J&K, opened the festival by saying that the word “celebration” comes to mind when we think of the Dal Lake, and what could be better than to celebrate water sports activities Jashn-e-dal in the Dal Lake, which the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other clubs and associations have been doing for a long time? He said that after the G20 meeting went well, the Dal Lake looked even better, and he was very happy that the Jashn-e-dal fair was being held again after a year.

He hoped that the number of people who liked Dal would grow with every day.

The DGP said that the Dal Lake’s beauty and charm have brought people from all over the world to love it. He also said that it has helped and supported a number of our young people to develop their skills in water sports, which they have shown off at different national and international competitions.

He congratulated all the players who had done well in different water sports at different levels and praised the work of the Water Sports Association. He also said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police had been the backbone of the Water Sports Association’s support and help, and he promised that the JKP would continue to help by giving the association different platforms.

The DGP told the media that as part of its Civic Action Programme, the J&K Police organise and fund a number of sports events. One of these events, Jashn-e-dal, is being marked like an Urs with the help of children, youth, and the water sports association. He said that the goal is to give young people a place and a chance to show off their talents on a national and worldwide level.

Earlier, ADGP Armed J&K SJM Geelani received the Chief Guest, Civil and Police Officers, players, school children, and journalists and thanked them for making the opening ceremony a success. The ADGP talked about the events that the J&K Armed Police are running and said that Jashn-e-dal is the first event of this year. He said that the Jashn-e-dal event has helped promote water sports in a big way.

He said that more than 12,000 athletes and sportspeople took part in the four big events that the J&K Police put on last year, and he hoped that number would go up this year. He said that over 600 water sports players will take part in 20 different events during the three-day Jashn-e-dal event.
