Srinagar, May 25: As participants departed from the three-day G20 summit (May 22-24), DGP Dilbag Singh on Thursday praised the police and other security agencies for their efforts in ensuring the event went off without a hitch.

Singh praised and commended all ranks of Police/CAPFs and other agencies participating in G20 responsibilities for their outstanding efforts over the last three days in making sure the G20 event in Kashmir went off without a hitch in terms of safety and security.

According to a government source, the people of Jammu and Kashmir will have many happy memories of the G20 delegates.

The gathering “has opened new vistas and hopes, denouncing many myths and fake anti-Kashmir and anti-peace narratives based on falsehood and propaganda by our neighbouring country,” he added.

He praised the people of Kashmir for seeing through the lies of Pakistani propaganda to enthusiastically welcome and take part in the event. He said the delegates were impressed by the beauty of Kashmir and the warmth of the locals.

The official said that the event’s security measures were the least intrusive possible, let individuals to go about their daily business as usual. “Traffic and all economic activities were not disrupted by security measures at any time. DGP praised the public for their “full cooperation” with police and security personnel, as well as with traffic and security laws.

Officials claimed that the G-20 summit “became a people’s event” in which local artisans and hosts showcased their wares to international visitors to popular tourist destinations like Nishat Bagh, Parimahal, Shakara Riding on Dal Lake, and Polo View Market.

People felt safe with the police and security personnel set up, he added.
