Agra (UP), June 8: A former Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan shot his wife seven times in the head with his licenced rifle because he felt she had “insulted” him on many occasions while she was doing laundry.

Wednesday was the day of the event. Mahendra Singh, the suspect, escaped after the murder but was caught later that night.

His wife allegedly made him angry by “constantly insulting him on trivial matters,” according to sources.

His daughter-in-law Puja Singh, who had attempted to intercede, was also attacked; she narrowly escaped capture and afterwards notified the authorities.

After receiving a complaint from Puja, police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspect for violating sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to kill) of the Indian Penal Code.

While Singh’s second son was out getting his moped fixed, Singh’s oldest son was in another room.

The accused has admitted guilt. DCP Vikas Kumar said that Mahendra had shot and killed his wife, Neeta Singh (48), in a fit of fury after an altercation.
