Ganderbal, May 23 – Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir (CUK), stressed the need of ongoing extracurricular activity planning for the students’ overall development on Tuesday.

Prof. A Ravinder Nath said, “In addition to academics, the students should be encouraged to actively participate in the activities organised by different departments of the institutions, which will not only inculcate values and morals among them, but will also change their attitude and develop respect of other faiths among them,” during an interaction with the faculty, research scholars, and students of the School of Education (SoE) at Tulmulla Campus here.

Professors Shahid Rasool, Dean Academic Affairs, and Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, Dean School of Education, together with other academics, senior officials, researchers, and students, attended the event.

According to CUK VC, universities should concentrate on the three crucial areas of academics, research, and governance. “The CUK will provide a suitable research environment where research scholars may conduct high-caliber studies for the welfare of all people. The departments will also be encouraged to cooperate and associate with other universities, to exchange information and expertise, Prof. Ravinder Nath said. The faculty will be encouraged to accept and take on projects from institutes of higher learning.

The institution, according to him, would soon open a knowledge resource centre for the students and provide all the necessary amenities for their entire growth.

Professor Ravinder Nath urged the faculty to concentrate on institutional progress since it would lead to their own growth. Prof. Ravinder Nath referred to universities as the organisations in charge of producing, preserving, and disseminating knowledge. He urged the faculty to involve students in the creation of the curricula so that the courses and programmes offered are market-driven and relevant to the current era.

Speaking to the group, Prof. Shahid Rasool said that the School of Education has the major duty and function of ensuring that the NEP-2020 is implemented in word and spirit. He said, “The SoE shall provide guidance to all university departments in framing their curriculum in accordance with the NEP-2020.”

Prof. Shahid discussed the profound changes that the introduction of information technology has brought about in the field of higher education. “Digital technology has revolutionised all fields, including education, and students are learning from online resources in addition to classroom instruction,” he stated. Prof. Shahid praised the students for their performances in many cultural genres.
