Srinagar, September 10: Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, former minister and chairman of the J&K Peoples Democratic Front (JKPDF), stated today that the financial crisis is harming the fruit business in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said in a statement that the fruit industry is on the verge of financial collapse owing to a string of unfavourable market circumstances and the current drought-like environment. Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has asked the government to assist distressed fruit producers and dealers. He has advocated the reintroduction of a much-needed market intervention programme as well as the cancellation of KCC loans in order to preserve the livelihoods of fruit producers.
