May 23rd, Srinagar: At Srinagar’s Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), the administration of Jammu and Kashmir has opened a unique food stand called “Millet Hub” for the use of visiting dignitaries.

Srinagar is now holding the third G20 Working Group Meeting under India’s leadership. In March of 2021, at India’s urging, the United Nations General Assembly designated 2023 as the International Year of Millets.

In both Asia and Africa, millets were the first plants to be cultivated. Later, it became a staple of the diets of sophisticated cultures throughout.

At the SKICC on the shores of dal lake, the government has put up a unique food kiosk labelled “Millet Food” for the duration of the G20 summit, which began the day before.

Aiming to serve guests millet food and give Entrepreneurs of self-help groups a proper platform from which to launch their own units, this project was a collaboration between the Jammu and Kashmir rural livelihood mission (JKRLM) and the Grass Root Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN).

Today’s session was attended by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Dr. Jitendra Singh, and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant.

To encourage sustainable practises that benefit people and the earth, Union Minister Reddy said, “Ministry of Tourism and Government of India is committed to working with all the G20 member countries and all the International organisations.”

Meanwhile, Singh said that Srinagar is home to the world’s tallest railway bridge and a large variety of handicrafts. When it comes to obligations towards the economy, the environment, and the community, India is ready to do its fair part of the heavy lifting.

The youth of India are very well-informed and can see the great potential presented by the Prime Minister of India. Srinagar’s average citizen is eager to join Prime Minister Modi’s global transformation, he said.

Jammu and Kashmir, according to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has long been a hub of culture, history, and natural beauty. This tranquil countryside was plagued by state-sponsored terrorism by its hostile neighbour for 30 long years.

But PM Modi offered development programmes that gave the state more authority. Growth, peace, and progress are now possible in J-K. “Jammu and Kashmir is now recognised as one of the country’s most progressive states,” he said.
