Soon, NASA will launch a spacecraft to investigate a far-off asteroid that may have a wide variety of metals in its composition. The purpose is to examine how many there are and what kind they are in order to learn more about how certain heavenly bodies came to existence. After years of delays, NASA has confirmed that the Psyche mission will take off before the end of 2018. The purpose of the Psyche Mission is to dispatch a spacecraft to investigate the asteroid 16 Psyche, which has a metal core but is otherwise mostly comprised of silicates. An improved understanding of planetary and solar system formation might result from this expedition to the asteroid’s metallic core.
