Pulwama, May 20: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched 15 places in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

In connection with the two cases lodged by the NIA in 2021 and 2022, searches are continuing in the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Srinagar, Pulwama, Avantipora, Anantnag, Shopian, Poonch, and Kupwara. One of the two cases was filed by the NIA’s Delhi office in 2021, and the other by the agency’s Jammu branch in 2022.

Since early Saturday am, these searches have been carried out in close collaboration with the Central Reserve Police Force and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

“Searches are underway in over 15 locations in RC 3/21/NIA/DLI & RC 5/22/NIA/JMU in seven districts of Srinagar, Pulwama, Avantipora, Anantnag, Shopian, Poonch, and Kupwara,” according to individuals familiar with the situation.

The NIA conducted searches at 13 locations in five districts of Jammu and Kashmir in a case pertaining to a criminal conspiracy for carrying out terrorist and subversive activities hatched by cadres and Overground Workers (OWGs) of various proscribed organisations and their affiliates and offshoots operating under various aliases at the behest of their Pakistani commanders and handlers.

On May 15, the agency launched operations in the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Budgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, and Anantnag.
Searches were carried out at the homes of many suspects and OWGs from several proscribed organisations operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA also conducted searches on December 23, 2022, in the districts of Kulgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Sopore, and Jammu.
