In an unexpected turn of events, Jammu and Kashmir has seen a 25% drop in power supplies from outside, resulting in a “temporary power deficit in the UT.”

According to those with knowledge of the situation, the electricity supply to the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been reduced by 25% for “no apparent reason.”

According to official sources, the Kashmir area would bear the brunt of the power shortfall due to high temperatures in Jammu, where the electricity department is resorting to the bare minimum of cuts.

According to those who provided information, there is now an approximately 25% shortage in electrical delivery from the central. “This has triggered a temporary power crisis in J-K,” they stated, adding that they didn’t know what caused the power outage, but it seems that it will last for some time.

“The deficit of 20-25% electricity has forced the KPDCL as well as the JPDCL to go for power cuts,” sources said, adding that power disruptions in Jammu are less severe than in Kashmir. “Given the low temperature, Kashmir can bear.” There is a heat wave in Jammu, thus there are less cuts there,” an official source said.

In addition, customers from various districts of Kashmir have complained about power outages, claiming that the inconsistent power supply has caused them to suffer once again.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Srinagar’s Chattabal region, claims that the KPDCL has resumed power outages as of last Saturday. “The department had changed the winter power curtailment schedule, but the power outages have once again caused hardships for the people,” he said.

However, KPDCL officials said that they did not know how long the situation would last.

An official said that the cause of the unexpected power outage in J-K will be evident in a week.
