On May 29 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha opened the Jambu Zoo near Nagrota and gave everyone free admission for a month.

The Lt. Governor sent his best wishes to the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well as to all the relevant government agencies. According to a press release from the Raj Bhawan, he also thanked everyone involved in building the Jambu Zoo.

“This much-anticipated addition to the tourist destinations of J&K UT, spread out over 70 hectare area in the phase-1, was taken up under Languishing Project and it shall attract both local residents and tourists visiting Union Territory,” said the Lt Governor.

He also noted that the UT’s first ever full-fledged zoo, with its picturesque surroundings, had the potential to increase tourism in the area.

At the opening ceremony, the Lt. Governor gave a speech on the state of J&K’s growth, focusing on the initiatives taken to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

“J&K UT is at a pivotal juncture in its historical growth. New ground has been broken, allowing for increased productivity. In order to fully realise the UT’s potential, the Lt. Governor has said that it is now time to speed up the expansion process, broaden its scope, and include more people.

A new age of possibilities has begun for J&K UT thanks to the summit’s smooth execution. This time of global support for Jammu and Kashmir’s progress is unprecedented. The Lt. Governor has stressed the need of working together to accomplish the ambitious goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Lt. Governor restated the government of J&K’s commitment to including all citizens in accomplishing the objectives of sustainable and inclusive development, with a specific focus on young people.

He said, “Our youth are the architects of New Jammu Kashmir, and we are seeing steady rise in youth entrepreneurs, who are working diligently to build a prosperous society and preserve our civilizational-cultural values and our commitment to peace.”

The Lt. Governor said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir now have many prospects to improve their socioeconomic standing thanks to the historic G20 Summit and the reformative youth-centric initiatives of the UT Government.

In only one year, over 82,000 new businesses have been started, directly employing 2.85 lakh young people. The Lieutenant Governor boasted that 70,000 young men and women had been helped via Mission Youth to develop independence.

According to him, J&K UT has finished 1500 languishing projects that had been in the works for anywhere from ten to twenty years as part of the Languishing Project.

Our urban areas are being upgraded to “smart cities,” and rural areas are becoming increasingly a part of the metropolitan fabric. The Lt. Governor has said that fundamental infrastructure is being improved so that each area may reach its full potential.

The Lieutenant Governor urged the locals to help the government improve the region’s tourism and other facilities.

The Lt. Governor has declared that the Jambu Zoo would be open to the public for one month at no cost. The dedication of the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, built by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and open to the public on June 8 was also announced.

The Lt. Governor-led UT Administration’s dedication of the Jambu Zoo to the public and subsequent boost to the development of the J&K UT was praised by many speakers, including Bharat Bhushan, Chairperson of the District Development Commissioner’s Office in Jammu, and Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament.

Jambu Zoo has the potential to become one of the best in India, according to Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, who has urged investigating all options.

The principal attractions of the Jambu Zoo were described in great detail by Dheeraj Gupta, principal secretary of the Forest Department, and Sh. Suresh Kr. Gupta, principal conservator of forests and chief wildlife warden of Jammu and Kashmir.

There were many individuals there, including high-ranking officials from the Civil Administration and Police, as well as representatives from PRIs and ULBs.
