Kupwara, September 27: A young JE working for the Power Development De-partment (PDD) in the Handwara district died on Monday afternoon after suffering a huge heart attack.
According to Greater Kashmir, Reyaz Ahmad, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) PDD Handwara, said the deceased had informed office that he would not report to duty on Monday owing to sickness.
“Roughly about 1:00 PM, I got a call informing me that one of our employees had passed away. When I heard the news, it brought me to tears. I couldn’t believe it at first, but then the health department verified it,” he said.
The dead young engineer had informed his family earlier that he was experiencing chest trouble while living at Pandit Colony Natnussa.
One of his neighbours claimed, “He was immediately shifted to Dis-trict Hospital Handwara with the help of family and neighbours, but doctors present there declared him dead on ar-rival.”
Anil Kumar Pandit, son of Somnath Kumar Pandit of NutnosaPandit Colony, has been confirmed as the dead.
His death has sent shockwaves across the neighbourhood, and tributes to him have been heard all day long.
Jammu is where the funeral for the dead will take place.
