Bhaderwah, 14 June: Early Wednesday morning, the area where Tuesday’s 5.4-magnitude earthquake had struck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district was once again shaken by aftershocks.

Officials reported a 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Bhaderwah-Bhalessa belt at 2:20 a.m. and a 2.7 magnitude aftershock occurred at 2:43 a.m.

According to the most recent information, fortunately, no injuries or property damage have been reported. The original quake hit at 2:20 a.m. and was centred in the Jammu area, 15 km northeast of Bhaderwah. According to the authorities, its coordinates were 33.14 degrees north, 75.79 degrees east, and 10 km deep.

A further aftershock hit at 2:43 am, with its epicentre located 74 km east of Katra in the Jammu area. Officials also noted that its depth was 5 km and that its latitude was 32.58 degrees. Its longitude was 75.71 degrees.

There has been a string of earthquakes in the Doda area, causing locals to worry and underscoring the need of taking precautions.
