Jammu, 22 August: Shiv Anant Tyal, managing director of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), today made many significant statements in response to public concerns and complaints over the introduction of smart power metres.

Because it might be difficult for customers to see their metres, the managing director has ordered that going forward, metres should be erected on customers’ home walls first preference. An official news release said that JPDCL representatives would follow the vendors throughout the installation of the metres to guarantee a smooth and transparent operation.

The JPDCL will install older digital metres alongside smart metres in selected areas in order to meet the demand for accuracy verification. During this testing phase, the validity and accuracy of the readings provided by the recently installed smart metres will be evaluated.

To take calls and respond to inquiries about smart metres quickly, helplines and support desks have been created. These tools will provide customers with a direct channel of contact for reporting and resolving meter-related issues.

To supervise the resolution of Smart Metre complaints, dedicated Nodal Officers have been chosen from among JPDCL’s numerous sections. They will be in charge of addressing customer complaints about smart metres that are made by calls, SMS, or WhatsApp.
