Srinagar, 5 June: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the 5th Union territory (UT) level meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD).

The conference was attended by the Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, the Director General of Police, Sh Dilbag Singh, top officials from the J&K administration, and representatives from various UTs and central agencies.

The Lt Governor reviewed the actions conducted in response to the orders approved at the 4th NCORD conference and outlined the holistic plan for UT and district-level activities to combat drug usage.

The Lt Governor also addressed the task force’s action plan, which was led by Special DG (Crime) Sh A.K. Choudhary.

The Lieutenant Governor urged for improved collaboration among all security and narcotics law enforcement organisations.

“The task force’s action plan highlights the UT administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics,” he stated.

The Lieutenant Governor urged for tougher action against drug traffickers, expanded IEC programmes, community participation, and capacity development for police personnel and drug enforcement organisations.

Higher Education and School Education departments, as well as relevant personnel, have been urged to ramp up awareness efforts and turn Nasha Mukt Panchayat Abhiyaan into a public movement. District officials were given instructions to guarantee that the Nidaan portal was used effectively and that the NCORD meeting’s directives were followed in word and spirit. During the meeting, Special DG (Crime) Sh. A.K.Choudhary informed the chair on the agenda items and the measures in place to combat the drug scourge.
