Srinagar, 4 June: Justice (Rtd) Hasnain Masoodi, a National Conference Member of Parliament from Anantnag, urged on Sunday for incentives for the fruit industry in Kashmir, saying agriculture and its related sectors had the ability to alter the “social and economic status of our rural Kashmir.”

Masoodi noted during the Inauguration of the Sirhama Electric Substation, which cost Rs 20 lakh and was funded by MPLADS, that “the substation has facilitated irrigation of hundreds of acres of orchard land in the Sirhama area.” Locals have long wished for a secure supply of irrigation infrastructure to serve the large swaths of land under fruit crops. I am certain that the facility will increase output and productivity. There is an urgent need to rethink and broaden the scope of our priority sector. Health care, education, and agriculture remain prominent on the party’s development agenda.”
