“Rain/Thunderstorm very likely to commence at most places from late afternoon onwards (today),” stated a meteorological department official, as cited by GNS.

He predicted widespread light to moderate rain, thunder, and lightning, with the potential for hail and severe gusty winds in a select few locations.

Over higher elevations, “moderate to heavy snowfall” is likely, he warned.

He predicted that the weather will be partly to typically overcast from May 27-29.

Green indicates no action is required, yellow indicates the situation should be monitored, orange indicates that government agencies should be ready for severe weather, and red indicates that action is required.

Overflowing of local nallahs (rivulets, particularly low lying ones”), water logging in low laying locations, and damage due to hailstorm and lightning are all possible outcomes of this weather system, he stated.

“Surface transportation, especially the Srinagar–Jammu highway, Zojila, Mughal Road, Sinthan Top, etc., may be temporarily disrupted.”
