Srinagar, June 11: Dr Farooq Abdullah, National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar, joined party leaders in paying glowing tributes to party stalwart and former General Secretary Khawaja Ghulam Mohiuddin Shah on his 19th death anniversary.
According to a press release, Dr Farooq Abdullah led scores of party leaders, functionaries, and workers in offering floral tributes and Fatiha at the Mazar of party stalwart Khawaja Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Shah on his 19th death anniversary. Earlier, senior leader Irfan Shah gave Fateha at Khwaja Ghulam Mohiudin Shah’s last resting place and joined party members who had gathered at the famed shrine in paying their respects to the late leader.
Meanwhile, party leaders from the South Zone paid dazzling floral tributes and fatiha at the last resting site of party veteran Fakhr-e-Kashmir Mirza Muhammad Afzal Beg in Sarnal, Anantnag, on the 41st anniversary of his death.
While paying respect to Ghulam Mohiuddin Shah, senior JKNC leader and former Finance Minister A R Rather remarked, “We are remembering Mohiuddin Shah today on his 19th death anniversary.” I had the pleasure of working with him for a long period. He was a wonderful dude. As General Secretary of the J&K National Conference, he had formed a strong relationship with the party’s rank and file. He was charming, courteous, civilised, and a first-class gentleman. His services to the state of Jammu and Kashmir are enormous and memorable. May Allah SWT accept him into Janatul Firdous!”
Rather stated of Mirza Afzal Beg, “Beg Sahab was a great visionary, Beg Sahab had a tremendous hold on legal matters.” He appeared in court to argue certain historic matters. His contribution to the revolutionary Agrarian Reforms is indelible. He was a brilliant legislator, an exceptional orator, and a capable administrator. He had a wonderful sense of comedy and humour. I had the pleasure of knowing him for many years. May Allah bestow maghfirat and a position in Jannat ul Firdous on him.”
