On Monday, May 15, authorities in Srinagar announced that the Additional Director General of Police for the Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar, and the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, had met with field officers to evaluate preparations for the next G-20 session in Kashmir.

The police were briefed by the relevant officials on the precautions that had been taken to ensure the smooth and secure running of the G-20 summit.

During the meeting, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Kashmir and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Div Com Kashmir) for Kashmir emphasised the importance of bolstering security at high-risk areas to prevent terrorist attacks on the G20 summit. Also, instructed them to step up joint patrols, particularly at night to thwart terrorist activity. They also encouraged the policemen to work closely with civilian authorities on the ground, police claimed.

They also told the civil administration to stay in touch with the police officers in charge of their area of responsibility (AOR) at all times in case of an emergency. For the success of the G20 Summit, they also instructed the officers to continue working closely with the police and security force.

All police and judges have been ordered to investigate rumours and stop them in their tracks. Police claimed that all officers involved had been told to prevent any harassment of civilians.
