Parents give their daughter ‘last rites’ after she marries a Muslim man

After their daughter married a Muslim man on Sunday, her family in Jabalpur kicked her out and did a Hindu rite for the dead called “pind daan” for her.

Anamika Dubey, a girl from Amkhera, got married to Mohammad Ayaz, a Muslim guy, in Jabalpur on June 8. When her wedding card, in which her name was changed to Uzma Fatima, went popular on social media, her parents found out.

Her parents and brothers didn’t like what she did, and they told her they didn’t like it by giving out sorrow cards. They also set up a gathering at the Narmada River and asked people they knew to take part in the funeral rites.

They think that what she did broke all ties with the family and that they had no choice but to disown her.
