13 May, Bengaluru: According to the latest statistics from the Election Commission, the Congress party is now leading the BJP and the JD(S) in the vote count that started in Karnataka on Saturday.

As of 9:15 a.m. IST on election day, the Congress was ahead on 38 seats, the BJP on 15, and the JD(S) on 2. Some exit polls for the May 10 elections have indicated that Congress would win a majority while others have forecast a hung legislature. Most exit polls saw the BJP getting less than 113 seats, which would put them far below the halfway point.

Some exit polls indicate a hung legislature with an advantage to Congress, while others give the party a strong majority.

The JD(S) becomes somewhat of a kingmaker under these conditions.

HD Kumaraswamy, leader of the JD(S), stated today that he has not been called for the formation of the government in case of a cliffhanger, adding that he hopes for a good show.

Kumaraswamy told the media before the votes were counted that there was no need for him to explore options because exit polls showed a clear edge to the Congress party and nearly 30-32 seats to JD(S), with some even predicting a majority for the grand old party.

The next two to three hours will shed light on the situation. The two major national parties are predicted to do quite well in exit polls. As of right now, the polls indicate JD(S) with 30-32 seats. As a very little player, there is little interest in me.What he meant was, “I am hoping for a favourable development.

I haven’t heard from anybody until today. First, let’s view the completed product. Exit polls indicate that a choice-free system is adequate. Let us see,” the head of the JD(S) said.

After voting closed in Karnataka, exit polls indicated that the Janata Dal-Secular JD(S), which had previously won 37 seats in the state in 2018, would retain its status as a major regional force in the state. In the event of a hung legislature in Karnataka, the JD-S might play a decisive role.

Both BJP and Congress need to win this election badly. Both parties ran intense campaigns. During the frenzied electioneering by party heads, the BJP allowed Union Ministers and Chief Ministers to put forward their full support for their candidates.

While the BJP has been trying to end the state’s tradition of nonconsecutive administrations for the last 38 years, the Congress has been working hard to ensure its continued rule.

Road shows, rallies, and electoral campaigns were conducted by Congress leaders such Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge. Since 1985, no administration in Karnataka has returned to office after serving a complete five-year term.
