On the morning of June 21st, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out greetings to the Indian people in honour of the ninth annual International Yoga Day. He called the response of more than 180 nations to India’s appeal to celebrate the day a “historic” event.

While in New York on a state visit, the Prime Minister will take part in a Yoga event hosted by the United Nations. I plan to take part in the Yoga programme being held at UN headquarters at about 5:30 p.m. IST. It is unprecedented that more than 180 nations have responded to India’s request to meet. “A record number of countries supported the proposal for Yoga Day when it came to the United Nations General Assembly in 2014,” PM Modi said in a video message released on Wednesday morning.

PM Modi added, “The ‘Ocean Ring of Yoga’ has made the Yoga Day celebrations more unique this year. Its inspiration comes from the parallels between yoga and the vastness of the ocean.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea of an annual International Yoga Day during his presentation to the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Because of its positive effects on participants’ flexibility, strength, balance, and general health, Yoga has exploded in popularity since then.

“Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” or “Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of ‘One World-One Family,'” is this year’s theme for Yoga Day.The inclusive and welcoming nature of Yoga’s ethos is emphasised. The nation as a whole will once again host yoga-themed events and workshops.

It’s a great way to get the word out about yoga and all the ways it can improve your life on all levels (physical, mental, and spiritual). Yoga is helpful for many health issues, including mental health. Practising yoga regularly has been shown to alleviate signs of stress, anxiety, and depression. In the wake of the epidemic, yoga has been shown to be very effective for alleviating symptoms of anxiety and despair.

It demonstrates the mind-body link while also aiding in emotional regulation, mood enhancement, and mental clarity. Also on June 21, PM Modi will join the UN’s leadership and other world figures at their headquarters to commemorate the world Day of Yoga.

Celebrations and educational events on the advantages of this ancient Indian practise have also been planned in various locations around the country. It has been nine years since the United Nations adopted a resolution declaring June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.
