May 31st, 2018: New Delhi On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) claimed it raided three sites in Budgam and Srinagar in an effort to clamp down on newly formed terrorist organisations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The agency said that multiple digital devices and damning material were seized during the searches.

“The searches were conducted at three locations in the Kashmir valley, in the residential premises of sympathizers/cadres, hybrid terrorists and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) linked with the newly-formed offshoots and affiliates of several proscribed Pakistan-backed terror outfits,” the NIA said.

As part of their ongoing probes into the activities of newly formed terrorist groups like The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers (KT), and the Pakistani Afghan Alliance (PAAF), the NIA reportedly spent the day conducting raids and searches in the Srinagar and Budgam districts.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) opened a suo moto investigation into a terror plot on June 21, 2022, and since then they have conducted 51 searches at various places. The case involves “the physical and cyberspace hatching of a conspiracy by the proscribed terrorist organisations to unleash violent terrorist attacks in J&K using sticky bombs, IEDs, small arms, etc.,” according to the statement.

Plans to disrupt peace and communal harmony in J&K by radicalising local youth and organising overground workers were described as “part of a larger conspiracy.”

The investigating body reported that cadres and employees of the newly created groups were engaged in the acquisition and distribution of weapons, money, drugs, and explosives. According to the NIA, they are propagating terrorist, violent, and subversive operations in J&K.

“Researchers have found that Pak-based operations are sending drones into the Kashmir valley to provide their operatives and cadres with weapons, ammunition, explosives, drugs, and other supplies. Social media is being used by these operators to communicate with Indian cadres and employees, the report said.
