Rajouri, May 19: With soldiers on the ground executing all essential security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ahead of the G20 summit in Srinagar, the security apparatus in the Pir Panjal area has been placed on high alert.

After a series of terror-related events, including an assault on minorities in Dhangri village on January 1, an ambush on an Army vehicle at BhataDhurian on April 20, and the Kesari Hill encounter on May 5, the situation between Rajouri and Poonch is already deemed concerning.

Following these terror acts, security was increased, with a large operation underway in the area to hunt down the terrorists, dubbed ‘Operation Trinetra’ by the Army.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the next G20 meeting in Kashmir, security has been increased in the area amid fears of terrorists doing anything untoward.

According to official sources, the field forces are following all kinds of SOPs, including Area Domination Patrols, Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) of a precautionary nature, and Mobile Vehicle Checkpoints (MVCPs), to ensure fool-proof security arrangements and that the proper security plan remains in place.

They said that top leaders from the field forces were interacting with soldiers on a regular basis and examining the forces’ readiness on the ground.

During a recent visit to Rajouri, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh discussed the existence of several terror groups in the area.
