One hundred fifty doctors, deans, professors, and nursing students all took part in this training.

The first issue of SOTTO’s yearly bulletin “Naman” was published after the opening ceremony. The distinguished panellists were asked to discuss a range of issues related to organ donation.

One of the speakers, Dr. Haroon Salaria, discussed the “Identification of Donors and Brain Stem Death Declaration.” According to him, the legal concept of death has long included brain death, often known as death by neurologic grounds. There are a lot of factors and nuance involved in making that call.

Dr. Anita Vig gave a talk titled “How to Maintain a Donor” to the assembled group. She said that the use of a simpler procedure, such as the modified VIP approach, may help improve the treatment of a brain-dead donor by combining mechanical breathing, fluid replenishment, and inotropes or vasopressors.
