The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was open for heavy vehicle traffic headed towards Jammu and two-way passenger light motor vehicle (LMV) traffic on Saturday, March 23.

The single road and bad surface conditions between Nashri and Banihal, along with the significant vehicle breakdown in the Chenani-Nashri tunnel, led traffic to stay delayed in Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, Ramban, Panthyal Magarkote, Shalgari, Nachlana, and other areas, according to traffic authorities.

The road was still open that day, allowing hundreds of LMVs and heavy trucks to pass through the Nashri-Banihal area without any problems.

Traffic officials said that big load carriers under control were on route to Jammu.

The Ramban Traffic Control Unit (TCU) permits private vehicles, passenger LMVs, and heavy trucks to travel on the highway in either direction.

The J&K Traffic Police Department has announced that local motor vehicles (LMVs) will be able to drive on either side of the highway on Sunday, provided the weather is favorable and the roads are clear.

According to their statement, big vehicles will be allowed to drive from Jakhani, Udhampur, towards Kashmir once the road and traffic conditions are evaluated on Saturday.

The Traffic Police asked drivers to observe lane discipline, especially between the Nashri and Banihal portions of the highway.
