Srinagar, September 6: On Wednesday, the Supreme Court invalidated the Union Territory of Ladakh’s (UTLD) announcement for the September 10 Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) election in the Kargil area.

The Court additionally declared that the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party (JKNC) is entitled to the “plough” emblem while dismissing the suit submitted by the Union Territory of Ladakh.

The Union Territory of Ladakh has previously objected to the JKNC being given the “plough” insignia. The Ladakh Administration was charged Rs. 1 lakh by the court for submitting the petition.

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh’s order to announce the ‘plough’ sign for JKNC had been challenged by the Ladakh Administration in a special leave petition.
