Bandipora, May 29: The annual Urs of the legendary Sufi saint known as Subhan Saheb Pohloo among his devotees was celebrated with tremendous zeal in his hamlet Saderkot Payeen in Bandipora.
Recitation of the holy Quran, prayers, and Naat were conducted on Urs Mubarak’s yearly day. On this day, special prayers were said for peace and tranquillity in the UT and across the nation. The Sufi saint was a religious and spiritual figure who was born in the Kashmiri hamlet of Saderkoot Payeen in the Bandipora region.
This year, hundreds of devotees paid their respects in order to get the saint’s blessings. During the annual Urs festival, a free langar (community kitchen) was set up for worshippers.
Subhan Bab was a brilliant humanitarian who believed in peace and coexistence, according to Dr Qazi Haroon, a famous public health specialist and Sufi writer who is also a follower of the Sufi saint. “People of all faiths used to flock to him and benefit from him.” “I can’t count the number of miracles attributed to the saint,” Dr Haroon remarked.
