At least three thousand Islamic literary volumes were destroyed in a fire at a religious seminary in Chandigam Sogam, north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, on Saturday morning.
According to a seminary employee, the fire broke out early Saturday morning from the rooftop, devouring the top floor of the structure.
He said that the building had been destroyed, as well as several major texts of Islamic literature.
According to an official, in addition to the firemen from the relevant department, the army arrived on the scene to extinguish the fires.
He said that their efforts were aimed at bringing things under control and preventing human loss.
The seminary staff has encouraged the valley residents to come out and provide a hand in rebuilding the destroyed facility. (KNO)
