9 June, Srinagar: The first-ever North Zone NeoCon-2023 conference kicked off today at the SKICC, and it was officially opened by Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar.
The Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag is hosting a two-day conference on neonatology and paediatrics on June 9 and 10, 2023, according to a statement released today by an official spokeswoman.

Attendees included Dr. Praveen Kumar, President of the National Neurological Foundation of India; Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Koul, Director of SKIMS; Dr. Syed Tariq Qureshi, Principal of GMC Anantang; Dr. Irfan Robbani, Principal of SKIMS-MC Bemina; and a significant number of medical students from a variety of institutions.

Advisor Bhatnagar, who spoke to the crowd, predicted that the conference will have a significant influence on reducing infant mortality and would serve as a forum for improving neonatal care in Kashmir. He went on to say that the federal and Jammu and Kashmir governments have placed a premium on the health care sector in an effort to boost societal wellness.

The Advisor emphasised that state-wide improvements to Jammu and Kashmir’s medical infrastructure are providing residents with access to world-class healthcare. He lauded the Principal General Medical College, Anantnag, and the National Neonatology Forum for their organisation of the meeting.

Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary of Health and Medical Education, delivered a video message in which he emphasised the need of providing high-quality newborn care in order to reduce the infant death rate. He said that the government’s RCH plan under the NHM scheme is further boosting maternal and child care services.
