On May 25 in Srinagar, the police in Budgam submitted a challan in the case of a lady who was brutally raped and murdered in Soibug. The case was brought before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Budgam.
On March 8, 2023, a complaint of a lady being missing was filed at Police Post Soibug. Subsequently, it was found during the search that the woman had been killed, and her corpse had been mutilated. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
In a statement, a spokesman for the police said that during their investigation, the police detained the accused person Shabir Ahmad Wani of Mohanpora Budgam for his participation in the commission of a crime and that a case FIR No 53/23 under section 302 IPC was registered in Police Station Budgam. The statement was made by the Budgam Police Station.
It was also discovered that the victim had been raped before being killed and dismembered. This information was released. According to the statement, this resulted in the inclusion of the rape charge under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.
Shabir Ahmad Wani, who is being accused, is now being held in judicial custody. In the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Budgam, the charge sheet that contains the allegations that fall within the provisions of Sections 302, 376, and 201 of the IPC has been presented.
