Srinagar, 9 June 2017: On Friday, the third group of Hajj pilgrims left for the holy sites of Makkah and Madina.

Thousands of pious Muslims from the area embarked on a spiritual trip at this time, leaving from Srinagar International Airport.

On Friday, two aircraft carrying a total of 640 pilgrims took out for the holy city of Mecca, according to Shujaat Ahmad Qureshi, executive officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Hajj Committee.

According to him, the third group of pilgrims will follow the same flying schedule as the previous two groups.

According to what Qureshi informed Greater Kashmir, “the first flight departed from the Srinagar airport at 3:30 pm, and the second flight departed from the Srinagar airport at 7:30 pm.”

He mentioned some minor adjustments to the travel schedule for Hajj pilgrims beginning on Saturday, when the second flight would now leave at 9:15 p.m.

More than 12,000 people are making the journey from J&K to Mecca for Hajj-2023.

On June 22nd, the final flight will take off.

An official said that two flights will depart daily to begin with, and that number might increase to three flights per day by the end of the timetable.

On July 17th, the pilgrims would begin their long journey home.
