The ‘LG’s Mulaqaat’ was held at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar today, May 31, when Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha met with locals and listened to their complaints in real time.

The Lt. Governor responded to complaints lodged on JKIGRAMS by ordering senior officials and DCs to guarantee timely provision of essential public services including healthcare, education, and social protection.

Efforts have been undertaken to make the administrative apparatus in J&K more accessible to the general public and more effective at addressing their demands. The Lt. Governor has commented on the positive correlation between the number of complaints filed via JKIGRAMS and the high rate of resolution.

The Lieutenant Governor issued an order to the District Administration requiring expedited handling of complaints, a non-arbitrary approach to decision-making, and the development of a locally-based model of competitive governance. He also stressed the need of multi-level collaboration across districts to address complaints and provide public services.

He urged the Deputy Commissioners to focus on the welfare of the people under their charge by keeping an eye on how well each department was doing and by working together more effectively.

The Lt. Governor also stressed the need of using technology solutions to resolve complaints in a timely manner and improve the quality of government services.

“e-Governance and rapid technological advancement has helped with new and innovative grievance redressal mechanism and service delivery monitoring tools for the benefits of welfare measures to seamlessly reach the last man in the queue,” the Lt. Governor remarked.

The Lieutenant Governor also reaffirmed the UT Government’s commitment to public empowerment and making the administrative structure more transparent and attentive to community concerns.

The government is dedicated to the well-being of its citizens and encourages “active participation” from all segments of society in socioeconomic growth, he said.

The Lt. Governor reviewed the complaint about the late Neelam Rani of Kathua, a Labour card holder, and she ordered the appropriate person to find a solution to the problem as soon as possible.

The Lt. Governor ordered the Deputy Commissioner to take strict legal action after receiving a report about illicit mining in nallah Romshi, Karimabad, Pulwama.

Concerned about encroachment on school property in Mendhar, the Lt. Governor issued strict orders to the relevant Deputy Commissioner to clear the area.
