13 June, Jammu: The Kishtwar area of Jammu and Kashmir had an earthquake on Tuesday, and two government schools were reported damaged.

Doda, the epicentre of a 5.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Jammu & Kashmir today afternoon.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, reported to Greater Kashmir that the earthquake had damaged the Government High School for Boys in Kishtwar and the Government High School for Girls in Binoon, Bounjwah.

He stated that teams have been sent to Kishtwar to inspect the damage to homes and other buildings.

The impacted regions have begun a rescue effort.

Meanwhile, multiple films showing fissures in nearby structures have appeared online.

Most buildings in Doda show fractures after the huge earthquake. An official in Doda remarked, “We have reports about the collapse of the roof of a school following the earthquake.”

Calls are coming in from all around. A government official stated that while there have been “very few reports of collapse of structures,” there have been reports of “massive damages to property due to cracks in buildings,” and that teams have been sent to the areas where the administration has received reports.

The situation is still unknown.
