Two women were among the six people detained in a prostitution investigation in Baramulla

On Wednesday, police in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir reportedly arrested six people, including two women, for operating a prostitution ring in the town of Baramulla.

According to a statement released by a spokeswoman for the Baramulla Police Department, the department has received information from credible sources that suggests immoral activity is taking place at a rented residence close to the Baramulla Bus Stand.

According to him, a police team commanded by Insp. Vilayat Hussain, SHO of the Police Station in Baramulla, and working under the direction of Altaf Ahmad-JKPS, DySP of the Headquarters in Baramulla, was able to break the prostitution ring.

The racket was run by Lateef Ahmad Chechi S/O Mohammad Younis Chechi R/O Malangam Bandipora (Tenant), Altaf Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Ahmad Dar R/O Kralhar Baramulla, Khurshid Ahmad Chechi S/O Abdul Rashid Chechi R/O Malangam Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Khan S/O Saifuddin Khan R/O Qazi Hamam Baramulla, while two female sex workers (name withheld) we’re also detained.

Police Station Baramulla has filed FIR No.136/2023 under the Illicit Trafficking Prevention Act’s sections 3, 4, and 8.
