June 7th, London: Ukraine has warned that Russia may be planning to bomb Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant after explosions at a major dam and hydroelectric facility led to widespread flooding and a humanitarian crisis in the Kherson area.

The Daily Mail said that ‘catastrophic’ floods were produced by a series of bombings that partly collapsed the key Nova Kahkovka dam along the Dnieper river in Russian-held territory.

The Daily Mail said that the downpour affected about 24 towns. Horrifying pictures from the area showed whole villages being swamped and residences being washed away.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russia has detonated a “environmental bomb of mass destruction,” and he has urged the world to “react” since as many as 80 communities might be inundated as a result.

United States security authorities have warned that the floods are likely to cause “many deaths,” and Zelensky has cautioned that the crime poses “enormous threats” to human life and the environment.

The Daily Mail said that the Kremlin accused Ukraine for the explosion, saying that it was an attempt by Kyiv to divert attention away from the start of a massive counteroffensive that Moscow claims is failing.

According to the Daily Mail, Oleksiy Danilov, Zelensky’s senior security officer, denied the charges and claimed that Putin’s next move may be to target the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is located only 80 miles up the river from Kakhovka and uses water from the dam to cool its reactors.

According to Danilov’s comments in the Times, Putin has reached “a fundamentally new stage of Russian aggression” and is “ready to do anything” after having a hydroelectric power plant blown up at his insistence.
