Sunday, June 2nd, in Srinagar: On Friday, renowned scientist Prof. P. Balaram, who was awarded India’s third highest civilian accolade, the Padma Bhushan, in 2014, spoke at KU on “Reflections on Science in the Age of Coronovirus.”

Prof. Balaram argued that the widespread media coverage of the coronavirus epidemic helped popularise scientific topics.

“Nature periodically provides a reminder of the limits of human arrogance and ignorance and demonstrates that the frontiers of science are truly endless,” he remarked. The pandemic also demonstrated that biology, when bolstered by the chemistry of molecular variety, is a potent natural force.

Just a few days before, a national symposium was held at the university, and three recipients of the Padma Shri were there to add their expertise to the discussions.

Vice Chancellor and Professor at KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, congratulated Prof. Balaram for his presentation and presided over the event.
