The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, said on Tuesday that a road from Chandanwari to Baltal is in the works, and that four or five more Yatri Niwas are being built to accommodate and assist Amarnath Pilgrims.
On the fringes of a Jammu event, LG Sinha told reporters that five Yatri Niwas will be built in the region, with four or five in Baltal, one in Nunwan Camp, and one at the entrance point to Kashmir near the Walnut plant. ”This will assist in the facilitation and accommodation of pilgrims,” he added.

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri, who was present, has promised that his department would green light all of the Yatri Niwas proposed by the UT government. Saying, “Let the DPRs come, we will ensure fast-track funding of these projects,” he allowed the submission of DPRs. (KNO)

The LG also mentioned plans to build a road connecting Chandanwari and Baltal. The DPRs for that section of road are almost done. He said that the construction of the road will allow more worshippers to visit the Amarnath cave shrine and see the sacred Shiv Lingam in less time.
