Conflict erupting in Kupwara, north Kashmir, close to the Line of Control

16 June, Srinagar: On Friday, authorities said that an encounter had occurred in the Kupwara area of north Kashmir between militants and security officials.

Based on information provided by the Kupwara Police, an encounter has begun in the Jumagund sector of the Line of Control in the Kupwara district. More information will be released soon, the Kashmir Zone Police said. More information was needed.

On June 13, the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police collaborated to clear up a border area in the Kupwara district, where two terrorists were hiding.
