Srinagar, December 1st: According to authorities today, six people have been charged with spreading false information and encouraging provocative material on social media platforms by Srinagar Police and Cyber Police Kashmir.
The action was taken the day after Director General of Police R. R. Swain said that false material that encourages dissatisfaction and anti-social propaganda would be the subject of a new statute.
According to a police representative on X (formerly Twitter), the identified people are going to face legal repercussions in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
The government is firmly opposing the spread of misleading information and highlighting the need to use social media in a responsible manner.
The public was advised to use care and abstain from disseminating or distributing inflammatory or inciting material, false information, anti-social propaganda, and rumors by the police spokeswoman.
