South Kashmir is engulfed in a gunfight

The government forces and militants have begun a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday. Encounter has started at Chakoora area of Shopian. Security forces and police are on the scene,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted. Following information about the presence of militants, a joint team of police, army, and CRPF launched a search operation in the area.

As the joint team intensified its searches towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired on the party, which retaliated, triggering a gunfight, the official said. (KS) An exchange of fire is underway, and two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
