A BSF officer called Karnail Singh was one among 24 people charged in the SI recruitment fraud by Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Anjum Ara.

According to the prosecution, Mohammad Usman Khan, Deputy Secretary, communicated the decision of the J&K government for the CBI to conduct an investigation into the claims of irregularities in the written examination for SI’s posts in the J&K Police conducted by the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) on the basis of a report from the inquiry committee established by the J&K government in letter No. GAD-VIG0COMP/285/2022-04-GAD dated 08.07.

The report’s preliminary analysis showed a criminal conspiracy between JKSSB officials, M/s Merit Trac Bengaluru, benefit applicants, and other accused people that caused serious anomalies in the way the written test for SI positions in the J&K Police was conducted.

In light of this, an ordinary case was filed against the accused individuals under Sections 120-B and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

“Prima facie it appears that the accused has substantively committed the offences under Sections 420, 201, and 411 of the IPC as such and are required to be charged for the offences,” the CJM said after hearing the arguments.

“Therefore, it is conclusively determined that the accused have committed crimes under Sections 120-B read with 420, 408, and 201 of the IPC. They are therefore accused of having committed crimes.
