New Delhi, December 12: In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Union Minister for State Home Affairs Nityanand Rai stated that, according to information provided by the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, 46,631 families of Kashmiri migrants, totaling 1,57,967 individuals, are registered with the Relief Organization (Migrant), J&K. These families were forced to leave the valley for security-related reasons.

In response to questions from Lok Sabha MP Kalaben Mohanbhai Delkar, the MoS Rai informed the Lower House in writing that, according to information from the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, 46,631 families of Kashmiri migrants, totaling 1,57,967 people, are registered with the Relief Organization (Migrant), J&K. These families were forced to leave the valley for security reasons. A number of Kashmiri immigrant families have also relocated to other regions of the nation.
Rai said, “The government has taken a number of steps to rehabilitate the Kashmiri migrants back into the valley, including the 5,675 who have been given government jobs.”

In a letter response, MoS Home Rai said that 6,000 transit housing units—of which 880 apartments have been finished—are being built to house the Kashmiri migrants who get government jobs in the Kashmir valley.


“In August 2021, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir opened an internet platform via which migrants from Kashmir may file online complaints about encroachment, title changes, mutations, and distressed sales. In a written response, Rai said that, as of now, 2924 kanals and 19.55 marlas of land had been recovered.

Rai also told the Lok Sabha that families of migrants from Kashmir who did not already have ration cards were given ones. Ayushman Sehat Cards were given to the families of Kashmiri migrants who had applied to get residence certificates.

Give Kashmiri immigrant families more access to social security benefits, such as marriage assistance and Ladli Beti, through the introduction of online certificate issuing and registration services. According to him, 31,672 migrant credentials, 902 EWS certificates, 2035 Resident of Backward Area (RBA) certifications, and 1,60,856 domicile certificates have all been awarded so far.
