The Modi administration formed a four-member group under the Finance Secretary to enhance the National Pension System. The Modi administration may approve the Eighth Pay Commission in such a case. The 8th Pay Commission will form in 2023. When the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations were adopted in 2016, the Pay Commission was formed in 2013. The new Pay Commission’s recommendations are adopted every decade.

In August 2022, the Finance Minister was questioned about whether the Modi government would also approve the Eighth Pay Commission. 2023 will establish the Pay Commission. Many Pay Commissions have been established since 1947. Every decade, the government creates a wage commission. Whose suggestions raise central employee salaries and pensions. The UPA formed the Seventh Pay Commission on February 24, 2014. The Sixth and Seventh Pay Commissions proposed large salary increases for central personnel in 2006 and 2016, and governments followed suit.
