Leh, August 19: On Saturday, a deadly road accident in the Leh district of Ladakh claimed the lives of nine troops, among them a Junior Commissioned Officer.
One soldier is in critical condition.
According to SSP Leh, PD Nitya, the incident happened around 4:45 pm, according to Kashmir News Trust. According to her, an army truck carrying 10 soldiers, including the driver, was involved in an accident 6 km short of Kiari. The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a canyon.
“As soon as the local police received the complaints, they sent a squad to the scene, where all the wounded were taken to the army MI room. Eight workers perished at the scene, and one perished while being transported to a hospital in Leh, according to her.
SSP Leh said that a wounded soldier’s condition is serious. [KNT]
