On Thursday night in the Check Dadoo hamlet in the Bijbehara region of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, a two-year-old kid was fatally attacked by a leopard.

An official said that a leopard pounced on a two-year-old kid named Burhan Zahoor, the son of Zahoor Ahmad Khan of Check Dadoo in the Sangam Bijbehara village, close to his home.

According to reports, the leopard pulled the youngster through thick orchards.

He stated that after hearing the cries, the family and locals pursued the leopard and found the kid, who was in severe condition.

He said that after being taken to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara, the youngster passed away from his wounds.

The occurrence frightened the people, who pleaded with the authorities to capture the leopard to prevent a repeat of the tragedy.

They said that although there have been several instances of these incidences in the region, the agency has not been able to capture the animal. (KNO)
